Becoming a foster family

Become a foster family for OKAAT and provide a temporary home for a kitten in need. Veterinary care is covered by the organization.

Every year, cats need help. Abandoned kittens, mothers with their babies, injured cats, or simply cats who need a safe place to stay while waiting for their forever family.We are looking for foster families who are ready to make a difference.

Being a foster family is not the same as adopting. It means providing a temporary home for a cat who has nowhere else to go. It means giving them a chance to heal, grow, and discover that kind and caring humans do exist.

You provide the love, safety, and a cozy spot on the couch. We take care of the veterinary expenses and are there to support you every step of the way.

It's never easy to see them leave... but there is something truly wonderful about knowing they are leaving to begin the life they have always deserved. And because of you, a space opens up to save the next cat in need.

Responsibilities of foster familiesEach foster family agrees to accompany their charge to follow-up appointments at our partner veterinary clinics.It is essential that you inform us promptly of any concerns regarding your pet's health or behaviour. Good communication allows us to act quickly and ensure the best possible care.The foster family must also administer the care recommended by our veterinarians, including medication, deworming or any other ongoing treatment.For everyone's safety, your animals must have received basic care and be adequately protected. Rescued kittens don't always have their vaccinations up to date upon arrival, so it's important that your home is safe and preventive protected.By working together, we ensure the well-being of every little life in our care.

Our commitment to you!Our team is attentive to your needs and expectations in order to fully support you in your role as a foster family.We monitor the animal's health and inform you of any known health or behavioural issues before you commit. Transparency is essential to us.Are you falling in love with your new pet? Good news: our foster families are given priority during adoptions.We are also committed to providing all the resources necessary for the well-being of those in our care. The equipment required for their care is provided by the organization.Together, we form a united team to give every kitten the best possible chance.
