One kitten at a time

Who are we?

One Kitten at a Time is a charitable organization registered in Canada and Quebec. The organization's main mission is to help newborn and sick kittens who would otherwise be euthanized without our help. One Kitten at a Time does not have a physical location and operates through a network of foster families located in the Lower Laurentians.

Our foster families are trained and equipped to care for our protégés. We accept kittens from all over Quebec, but we prioritize our region. We advocate for quality care, so we do not do mass rescues to ensure that our protégés receive the care they need.

Sponsorship

One kitten at a time has a sponsorship program to help us with our monthly expenses, such as food. Join our sponsorship program

Volunteering

We are looking for volunteers to lend us a hand with administrative tasks. You can make a difference from home!

Partnership

We are always looking for new partnerships to help us continue our mission! Let's work together to make a difference!

Our story

In 2018, I had the idea of creating a Facebook page dedicated to the rescues I was doing. Having always been passionate about animal welfare, I wanted to share my knowledge and introduce the kittens I was helping. As I wanted to give each cat I helped the best chance of survival, I decided to take in one cat at a time. It was from this perspective that I was inspired and named the page “Un chat à la fois” (One Cat at a Time). The virtual absence of organizations dedicated to medical care, combined with the success of my rescues, led to rapid growth for the organization. This meant that I needed to recruit new people to join my cause. In 2019, One Cat at a Time obtained non-profit status in Quebec, and in 2020, charitable status in Canada. Seven years later, after overcoming many challenges, achieving victories, suffering a few setbacks, helping 415 animals, accumulating 22,000 followers, setting up an administration, mobilizing committed volunteers, and rallying an active community, Un chat à la fois is a wonderful mission. What started as a simple pilot project has turned into a vocation, a passion. I feel privileged to continue a mission that is close to my heart and to have people behind me who are just as passionate.
